The administrative center of the region is the city of Vinnytsia.

Territory area: 26.5 thousand square km., 4.4% of the territory of Ukraine.

The distance between the city of Vinnytsia and the city of Kyiv is 266 km by road, 222 km by railway.

Population: according to the population census as of 1.01.2015 – 1610.6 thousand people.

Geographical location: The region is located in the forest-steppe belt of the right-bank part of Ukraine. 204 rivers flow through the region, the largest are the Southern Bug and the Dniester.

Borders: 202 km of the state border with the Republic of Moldova. The region borders on 7 regions of Ukraine (Zhytomyr, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovograd, Odesa regions).

Administrative-territorial division: 27 districts, 6 cities of oblast subordinance, 12 cities of regional subordinance, 29 urban-type settlements, 1457 rural settlements, 27 district councils, 18 city councils, 28 village councils, 661 rural councils.
